CENTERstage Productions announces open auditions for the Black Box production of the dramatic one-act plays, The Zoo Story and The American Dream, written by American playwright Edward Albee. Directed by Jeremy Ratel.
The Zoo Story – A simple family man spends his afternoon reading on a bench. Another man joins him for a conversation. What happens next changes their lives in shocking and unexpected ways.
The American Dream – A seemingly well-off couple wants something very badly, and they invite the town socialite to help. If only their pesky Grandma wouldn’t keep getting in the way!

Seeking: Four men ages 25-50, two women ages 20-40, one woman age 50-80.

Casting Breakdown
PETER: 45. Bland, not heavy; pleasant, if uninteresting looking. Tidy, circumspect.
JERRY: Late thirties, carelessly dressed. Slumped body language; possesses a great weariness.
GRANDMA: Old. She is your grandma. Cranky but intelligent. Used to being ignored.
MOMMY: Early forties. Grandma’s daughter. Commanding and shrewish; married for money.
DADDY: Older than Mommy. Submissive and docile; he dislikes the constant arguing.
MRS. BARKER: 20s-30s. The town gossip. Knows everyone and will do anything for status.
YOUNG MAN: Twenties. The titular dream. Beautiful yet soulless; searching for meaning.
