Bat Boy

Rhinebeck Theatre Society Bat Boy Audition Notice

Based on a story in The Weekly World News, BAT BOY: THE MUSICAL is a comedy/horror musical about a half boy/half bat creature who is discovered in a cave near Hope Falls, West Virginia. For lack of a better solution, the local sheriff brings Bat Boy to the home of the town veterinarian, Dr. Parker, where he is eventually accepted as a member of the family and taught to act like a “normal” boy by the veterinarian’s wife, Meredith, and teenage daughter, Shelley. Bat Boy is happy with his new life, but when he naively tries to fit in with the narrow-minded people of Hope Falls, they turn on him, prodded by the machinations of Dr. Parker, who secretly despises Bat Boy. (Broadway Licensing)

Rhinebeck Theatre Society is proud to announce auditions for Bat Boy, a campy, horror-comedy rock musical from the composer of Heathers and Legally Blonde. We are seeking a small cast of strong character actors/vocalists, age 18 and up, to portray a wide variety of characters.

Virtual Auditions Submissions: Email a YouTube link or Google Drive link of your singing audition to rhinebecktheatresociety@gmail.com by Sunday, July 21st at 7:00 pm.

Bring sheet music or a backing track, whichever is easier for you. If possible, download or save the backing track locally to not rely on Wifi. If nerves have you tied in a knot, consider a duet with a friend.

We also will be doing a movement/dance exercise at the audition, so please wear something you can move in!
