Mark Twain wrote: “There are five kinds of actresses: bad actresses, fair actresses, good actresses, great actresses. And then there is Sarah Bernhardt.”
In 1897, the world-wide stage celebrity set out to tackle her most ambitious role yet: Hamlet. Even before the 20th century dawned, this exceptional woman leveraged her extraordinary talent and international fame to play the iconic role of Hamlet on a Broadway stage.
