CENTERstage Productions announces open auditions for The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark by William Shakespeare. Adapted and directed by Lou Trapani.

A vibrant and physical Viking saga set in the modern day.

Location: The CENTER for Performing Arts at Rhinebeck.

Performance Dates:  March 8-24, 2024. Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, Sundays at 3pm.

Seeking:

Hamlet, Ophelia, Rosencrantz, Guildenstern – should present age 17 to 21;

Laertes, Horatio, Fortinbras – should present age 21 to 25;

Claudius, Gertrude, Polonius – should present age 31 to 35;

Marcellus and Bernardo – should present age 17 to 35;

Old Hamlet, Player King, Player Queen, Gravedigger – should present age 41 to 45.

We strongly encourage women, persons of color, and LGBTQ+ individuals to audition. We are committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion in all areas of our work.

Prepare / Bring: Auditioners should prepare a one-minute monologue which showcases an ability to speak in cadence. Can be from an Elizabethan or other classical play OR an excerpt from a song or poem.
