Seeking Playwrights and Directors!

Project Summary:

The CENTER for Performing Arts at Rhinebeck is excited to announce a call for collaboration on a groundbreaking theatrical project. We’re set to bring a beloved mystery story to life, not just on stage, but on an actual moving train. This venture promises an engaging, dynamic theater experience that merges the excitement of live dramatic storytelling with the scenic beauty of a rail journey.

Performance Vision:

- This project will craft a unique adaptation of a famed mystery story, offering a creative new take that differs from any versions previously seen.

- The performance will unfold in three train cars, featuring 4-6 actors in each, with every car presenting a part of the story simultaneously. This approach demands creative stagecraft and direction to ensure a seamless experience for the audience, regardless of the car they are in.

- To enrich the ambiance, a sound system will be available to broadcast thematic audio and essential parts of the story across all cars.

- Enhancing the overall experience, a bar cart will circulate through the train, serving refreshments and contributing to the immersive atmosphere.

- Considering the train ride's duration will be two hours, the adaptation should be a concise, thrilling production reimagined into a structure that best suits the narrative flow and audience engagement in this unique setting.
